Our Rashad Richey thread gets a bit derailed by Frankie Graham Jr, so I thought a separate thread might be useful.

This guy Tan Kwan Hong we've discussed before. Here he earns a dual PhD in Religion and Cognitive Psychology (is a dual PhD a thing, anywhere?) With a 544-page treatise.

Those will be doctorates #23 and #24, according to his LinkedIn.

His dissertation could be so brilliant that very few people can understand it (ala Ted Kaczynski), it could be the longest word salad ever, or it could be 544 pages of “All Work and No Play Makes Tan a Dull Boy”.

If someone truly believes they’ve earned 22 doctoral degrees, there’s no accounting for what they’re capable of.

I was looking at the impressive array of doctoral degrees offered by Graham International University. The two the has peaked my interest are;

Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil) in Philosophy of Sex, Love, and Gender - Great flex on a resume

Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil) in Philosophy of Epistemology - The study of how Episten didn't kill himself

 

Possible. Depends on whether the schools require a short time to get the PhD.

BPPE is not an accreditor, so I don't see the news of "pending application" as siginifcant unless this process serves a stepping stone to real American accreditation further into the future. It's not clear whether they are seeking religious exemption or licensing either. They are already partnering with some religious exempt institutions; https://university.fgjf.org/our-partners/. Having "accreditations recognized in the USA and Europe" would be need to substantiated.

 

Graham International University is accredited by the Graham International Education Accreditation Agency. What more do you want?!?!

 

Looks like the LinkedIn post was deleted. I admit my morbid curiosity with GIU is akin to watching a slow moving car wreck. GIU must be profitable for Frankie Graham or he wouldn't be promoting this scam.

Who needs that when you have recognition from the Graham Department of Education?

“We have evaluated ourselves, and have determined all is in order”.

 

Well, but of course.

 

Some people still remeber the old times when CA approval meant,
The institution is “approved by the State of California to grant degrees” CPPVE at the time.
The approval means the school has met state-established standards
Degrees issued are legally valid within California.
Some still think today's CA Approval has some weight.
We know it's not an academic accreditation.

GIU now has CONIES accreditation/membership from Austria. Becoming accredited by CONIES has the same criteria as Azteca's validation of programs that result in grando propios. In fact, UCAM, UCN, UA(Azteca), and the Swiss Management Center are among those accredited by CONIES. What we are likely to see from GIU is their degrees being issued along with the above-selected partners.

 

Except those other schools are accredited by their country’s ministry of education. I get that the propio is not accredited by the government, but the weight of these institutions is not merely in CONIES.

 

GIU joining CONIES is membership shopping and doesn’t elevate GIU’s credibility. CONIES has zero recognition from the U.S. Department of Education, CHEA, or any legitimate European ministry. No matter how many “validations” GIU stacks behind their name, the degree remains an academic dead end. The decorative paper they issue is unacceptable for federal employment, unrecognized by the GAO, and worthless for professional licensure. Buyer Beware!

Nevertheless, I've downloaded his thesis, which is full of bullet points, for perusal later.

CONIES accreditation list includes Collegium Humanum - Warsaw Management University, a school that doesn't exist under this name anymore. They changed their name to "Varsovia." This Varsovia school has received negative evaluations from the Polish Accreditation Commitee for every single program that they have launched since the criminal investigation into their former operations. This school is a laughingstock in Poland.

 

I think CONIES 'validation' for GIU alongside Collegium Humanum (Varsovia) while under criminal investigation by Poland's Central Anticorruption Bureau is scraping the bottom of the diploma mill barrel. I guess this is a thing now? Then again, nobody reputable is claiming GIU has academic integrity so the association fits.
